What are some of the key performance indicators that you all are using for your small business? I've got a small boutique shop, and since there hasn't been much growth in the last couple of years, is it that i'm measuring the wrong things or that my business is just about the size i should keep it. Truth is though, I'm not sure I want to grow too much more, it'd mean hiring more staff and pushing me over my current staff of 5. I can manage 6, more than 6 and I think it just becomes too much trouble.

Thanks,

Charles

There must a be books on this information you require. Any others may suggest them. However I'd look at it like this.

Fundementally any KPIs really need data - as much as you can get. Before you can think KPIs I suggest you gather raw data. How much is coming through your tills, from whom, when, how often. Who'd walking into your shop, when etc, etc. Who are you desired clientele, what are they doing outside your shops what are they buying elsewhere.

Think about collecting as much information from customers as you can. Add to that information on your suppliers and your staff, you neighbours.
